The service is designed to ensure not a mere response to the immediate need, but taking care of the subjects and starting a process based on services and actions related to them, aimed at responding to the needs expressed. The activities and services provided, they will therefore not be an end in themselves, but they will be part of a wider process of awareness and regaining autonomy in the management of daily life. For each individual or nucleus participating in the activity provided for by the, a personal file will be created that will contain the personal data and any other information useful to prepare an intervention plan that can have a continuity over time.

Young volunteers, as "supportive neighbors", will have the task of carrying out in practice those tasks and small daily tasks aimed at combating social isolation and encouraging the creation of relationships of solidarity between individuals and communities in the Cagliari neighborhoods, in particular, the following activities will be carried out: listening activities; creation of small commissions and daily activities (expense, postal services, Deliveries, filling in applications with computer media); accompaniment at the offices and support in dealing with administrative and bureaucratic practices; orientation and support in access to local services; language support in the handling of practices and in the orientation to the services; setting up computer media; social animation through the dissemination of information on scheduled events.

In a context characterized by a decrease in services to the person and socio-cultural activities, moments of socialization and aggregation, through "Genti de Bixinau" young volunteers, “solidarity neighbors”, will be able to assist the categories that are living today in more alarming conditions: the elderly who live alone, often far from children and affections; pensioners who often find themselves losing their network of contacts and stimulating them to leave their homes or to create interests with the arrival of their pensions; housewives who often find themselves isolated from a social context; mononuclear families and single people.

The initiative involves the inhabitants of the municipal territory of Cagliari, with particular attention to the most populated neighborhoods and with a greater presence of elderly people. The complementary objective of the activity is to promote the culture of volunteering and solidarity, especially among the younger ones who, instead, will be the protagonists of the local volunteering action.
