"A scuola di Rispetto" with Acli and Equilibra for social well-being

Preventing and combating violence, especially the gender one, raise young people's awareness of the phenomenon and raise awareness of their rights and duties so that they can protect themselves in the event of abuse. These are the main objectives of the national project"At school of respect”, organized by the 2017 from the Onlus "Balance for social well-being" with the collaboration of the Order of Psychologists of Lazio. For the third consecutive year, the initiative also reaches schools in Sardinia and in particular in Elmas, where it will be taken in April and May 2021 by the regional project managers, psychologists Francesco Ciaccio is Francesca Luisa Aru in collaboration with Acli Elmas.

At the center of the intervention will be the children of the Comprehensive Institute "Monsignor Saba" and the Institute of Higher Education "Duke of Abruzzi”. "We like this project because it involves an active participation of the children - explains the president of the Acli of Elmas Paolo Tambaro –. We would like the students taking part in the meetings to then be the promoters of the learned content themselves in order to pass it on to their peers through a virtuous process of peer education».

The project is in a context in which the pandemic has changed, if not upset, the everyday life of each, but in particular that of adolescents. Social distancing and quarantine have had a profound impact on the psyche of many boys, in an already particularly complex phase of life in itself. The impossibility of direct interpersonal contact has led to the excessive use of smartphones and virtual relationships. Among the consequences we find, in some cases, the increase in relationship difficulties and aggressive behaviors among peers, partners and parents, especially on women. The impact is particularly evident if you look at the numbers: according to a UN study, in the first three months of lockdown, violence and feminicides have increased by 20% Around the world. In Italy, during the first lockdown, according to Istat the calls to the anti-violence number 1522 have experienced an increase in the 73% compared to the same period of the previous year, The 45,3% of the victims is afraid for their own safety and the 72,8% does not report the crime immediately.
