Meeting Sardinia – Canary Islands thanks to the Crei project

Crei Acli's project focused on the exchange of development policies.

Transport and territorial continuity, exemptions and concessions for businesses, incentives for young people and opportunities in the tourism sector. These are the main themes on which the project of discussion on the development between Sardinia and the Canary Islands launched by the Create, together with the ACLI provinciali di Cagliari.

The encounter between these island realities with so much in common, is going to come alive after about a year of preparatory meetings and design. "What we want to achieve is the creation of a system of stable relationships and periodic comparisons that can bring concrete results for our economy," explains the President of the Create Acli (Regional Committee Emigration and immigration) Mauro Charter –. After the preliminary meetings of the past few months, The project now envisages a phase of stimulating twinning between municipalities, interchange and counter-depopulation projects, opportunities for contact between associations and moments of sharing good practices on the main common themes: continuity to the opportunities offered by tourism between culture and nature..

The Spanish archipelago located in the Atlantic, off the coast of Morocco, more than two million people and has a steadily growing GDP in recent years (beyond the 2%), tourism policies and consumer drive in particular.

Last December, an important meeting was held on the island of Gran Canaria during which the foundations were laid for the entry into the operational phase of the project.

The representative of the Acli Isabel Vera met Don Jose Carlos de Blasio, Italian Consul on the island of Gran Canaria, Antonio Medina, President de FENORTE (Entrepreneurial Federation of the Northern Municipalities of the Island), Pablo Linares, Director of the Patronate of Tourism of Gran Canaria and Mancomunidad, In, Union of Northern Municipalities, of Patio de Las Culturas, association that deals with interculture, formation, Immigration, human rights, and Charter GC, association of women entrepreneurs very recognized by the institutions, fight for inequality and gender-based violence.

A municipality will soon be identified as part of the Mancomunidad, In (Comark of the northern municipalities of Gran Canaria) which together with the municipality of Iglesias will start the process for twinning.
