Isolidale: migration and acceptance in European format

Against the culture of suspicion to the other and fear for the migrant, the Acli Gesico under the patronage of the municipality are putting in place a project that will involve young Sardinian, Greeks and Bulgarians.

The common commitment for the welcome as a means of strengthening the ties between the peoples of Europe. This is the idea behind the project Isolidale organized by the Acli Gesico (in partnership with the Greek Association Politistiki Anazitisi Lesvou Amkeeand and the Bulgarian Association Walk Together Bulgaria) under the patronage of the municipality of the center of the European Erasmus Program with funding from the Trexenta and + (Action 1).

From Thursday 14 until Wednesday 20 two groups of young, seven coming from the Greek island of Lesvos and seven from Bulgaria, will be hosted by seven young Sardinian. All together, twenty project participants will compete through debate and discussion on the theme of welcoming migrants, trying to figure out what the policies implemented in each country and above all sharing their ideas on how dell & #8217; hospitality should be set to work best. Value added for teenagers will be the comparison between daily life in the field of reception of the two Mediterranean islands, Sardinia-friendly hotels, for years the center of management of migration flows coming in particular from North Africa.

During the work week, Kids will visit a reception centre in southern Sardinia to elaborate on the operation of the facility and its guests. The guys will also participate in meetings with local authorities and with associations active in the field of first and secondaaccoglienza.

"This project was born from a reflection on the crisis of migrants – says the President of Acli Gesico Clare Murgia –. The phenomenon of migration, that in itself represents a & #8217; opportunities for enrichment, It is often accompanied by media campaigns that promote fear and suspicion hampering l & #8217; social integration of immigrants in our communities, with significant consequences in terms of social cohesion and public order. Our idea is that this phenomenon could become an important factor in the European population, by comparing it with the other and collaboration, can you find a new unified identity ".
