Seminar “Domestic workers: policy developments and statistical trends”

The Acli Cagliari organized for Provincial today 12 May 2016 at 16.00, at the headquarters of the Acli of Sardinia in Via Roma n. 173 in Cagliari – second floor, informative seminar "domestic workers: policy developments and statistical trends ".
According to the latest study by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) «Social protection for domestic workers: policy developments and statistical trends» about 67 millions of domestic workers worldwide, 60 millions have no access to any kind of social protection. The 80% are female. In Italy the 60% domestic workers in Italy is without cover retirement and insurance.
Based on an analysis of the numbers, presented by the Dott.ssa Blessed Iannelli, Volunteer of Acli of Cagliari and expert in analysis and research, through which we will attempt to photograph the current state of global domestic worker, with a focus on the national situation, you will be taken to an intervention of the Dott.ssa Barbara Addis, ATM work of Patronato ACLI on social protection Objective,opportunities and critical issues in the context of domestic work and care for people.
Thetarget the seminar is to inform families, employers, and State workers in the sector of domestic work and reflect together on the need for policies to protect domestic workers, that, as demonstrated by the data often work without contracts and without social security coverage and insurance.
The ILO report also shows that domestic workers ' retirement and insurance coverage is an affordable and achievable goal, even in middle-income countries or low income, as clearly demonstrated in the case of Mali, Senegal and Viet Nam.
The seminar will be, Finally the opportunity, to discuss on the effort of improving legislation and national practices — even on social protection in which the ILO has adopted in 2011 the Convention (n. 189) of domestic work and recommendation (n. 201) domestic workers, the two most important international instruments that set of basic principles and minimum labour standards for the sector.
